Specialized filling for Pipe Abandonment, Casing and carrier pipes

Sand fill — also called pipe abandonment — is the process of filling decommissioned underground pipes with clean sand to prevent future collapse, ground subsidence, and safety hazards. When underground utilities are taken out of service, regulatory agencies and municipalities typically require the abandoned pipe to be filled to eliminate the void and prevent structural failure of the surrounding soil.

Skyline Companies uses equipment to blow dry sand or flowable fill into the abandoned pipe from one end, completely filling the pipe cavity from end to end. The process is fast, non-disruptive, and can be performed with minimal excavation — often requiring only small access holes at each end of the abandoned pipe run.

Our crews are experienced in pipe abandonment work for water mains, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, culverts. We work directly with utilities, municipalities, general contractors, and pipeline operators throughout the Midwest.
